Welcome to the Maps page.
Global Warming?...if yes - let's track it!
We all hear a great deal these days about global warming and the change of seasons.
We believe it would be interesting to show maps on this page indicating the different times throughout the country when plants flower....for example when did the first daffodil flower in Cornwall and when did the first one flower in Aberdeen? Another thought is lawn mowing....when did you last mow your lawn at the end of 2007 in Aberdeen and when was the last time for Cornwall?
In the coming years we'll see how much things change....if indeed they do!
The point of this is that over a period of years we shall be able to see if there is a global warming effect on our gardening. We need your help to do this so please do contact us with any information you think would be useful.
We have started working on the maps though it may be a while before you'll be able to see the result. Any ideas you may have for this page please do email us at suggestions@plantsreunited.co.uk or perhaps you could let us know of any experiences you may have had on this subject.
We really want to get this going and have received our first email from Janet who lives near Barnston in Essex who says "This year I cut my lawns on February 29 which is the absolute earliest ever for me. Also, at the moment I have a white Christmas Rose in bloom! It did flower very well at its usual time, but I saw new buds in June and now it is there in all its glory! I have had these in various gardens for many years (not always the same plants) but have never known them to bloom other than in December/January/February/March"
Thank you Janet!
